Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Agus Martowardojo said that he would not be concerned with a plan initiated by several organizations to file a lawsuit against the passing of the tax amnesty bill.
“I think it’s a common process,” Agus said at the BI Complex in Jakarta on Monday, July 11, 2016.
Earlier, the United Justice Foundation (YSK), along with the Indonesian People’s Struggle Union (SPRI) revealed a plan to file a judicial review with the Constitutional Court once the tax amnesty bill is in effect.
“Recently in Indonesia, I think every new law has been brought for a judicial review with at the Constitutional Court,” he added.
Agus believes that tax amnesty law has been well-deliberated by the government and the House of Representatives before it was passed.
YSK chairman Sugeng Teguh Santoso earlier revealed the motive behind his plan to file a judicial review on the tax amnesty bill.
“We have a reason that the tax amnesty law could be initiated by delinquent taxpayers because it gives them an exclusive right,” Sugeng said on Sunday, July 10, 2016.
The exclusive right referred by Sugeng gives delinquent taxpayers a chance to walk free from administrative and criminal sanctions. In addition, delinquent taxpayers will also be protected with confidentiality rights.
